PowerSTAR MPPT Regulator Released (February 2005) Ingenium
Technologies have announced the release of the PS-2012-SL Maximum Power
Point Tracking Solar regulator developed for the global solar street
lighting market. The PowerSTAR system utilises advanced tracking software to provide maximum power transfer from solar cells, yielding up to 30% more power compared to conventional regulators. The system includes a complete suite of components including Maximum Power Point Tracking Solar Regulator, lighting inverter, and user data terminal plus system configuration software. The PowerSTAR system incorporates a number of unique features including 400 days of data logging, advanced battery management algorithms, and easy user setup of all operational parameters.

Successful PowerSTAR Trials at Mawson Lakes (December 2005) Ingenium
Technologies has successfully concluded an extensive series of
performance trials of their innovative PowerSTAR technology at the
Mawson Lakes housing estate development located North of Adelaide. The trials systems have been installed in a street lighting environment in place of mains powered lighting, in order to demonstrate the many benefits associated with solar lighting technology. Adelaide based PECAN Lighting have worked closely with Ingenium Technologies and have been responsible for the system integration aspects of the project including supply of light poles, batteries and solar arrays. The PowerSTAR technology incorporates unique Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms to maximise the transfer of power from standard solar cells to batteries under charge. Early results have shown a 30% power transfer gain compared to standard regulators. The trials program was aimed at determining the ability of the system to perform under realistic environmental conditions, including extremes of hot and cold, and varying insolation levels. The inbuilt data logging facility within PowerSTAR has been an important factor in capturing relevant data to allow a detailed analysis of trials performance. |
